Drawn to visual storytelling since childhood, Alex Gallitano picked up his first camera at age nine. He graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where he honed his skills as a cinematographer and was mentored by Geoffrey Erb, ASC. He also studied at the prestigious FAMU Academy in Prague. Alex spent his early career working as part of the lighting teams of major motion pictures such as The Wolf of Wall Street, The Amazing Spiderman, and Skeleton Twins. Between 2013 and 2014, Alex returned to NYU as adjunct faculty, teaching cinematography in the undergraduate Advanced Television Production program.
Alex's narrative work has screened at festivals around the world. His recent feature film, Bear With Us, premiered at the Gasparilla International Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature. It has since won several awards, including four Jury Prizes and two nominations for Best Cinematography.
Alex has also shot numerous commercials for clients including The New York Times, ESPN, NFL, Facebook, Huawei, Swiffer, Makers Mark, VICE, Glamour, Vogue Mexico, Slomin’s, 23andMe, Macy’s, Kiehls, The New York City Ballet and many others.
